Hurricane Season is Here!
Hurricane season begins June 1st, and an average hurricane season sees 11 named storms, with six becoming hurricanes, two being major hurricanes of Category 3 or more. In December 2002 a major ice storm hit the Carolinas--2 million people lost power. Less than a year later, Hurricane Isabel struck the mid-Atlantic, causing outages to 3 million people. During both storms, many customers were without power for a week, and in some heavily damaged areas, customers were without power for up to 16 days. In spite of technology, we still have not found a way to totally protect us from Mother Nature. Severe storms cause billions of dollars in damages in the U.S. each year.
How long can your home be without heat, air conditioning, hot water, or refrigeration? Can your business risk losing power for several hours, several days, or possibly several weeks?
